Sometimes we can get blinded by all the wonderful offers we see online. I know you have your own story as well, right? And in one way or another, you may have been a near-victim of these pretty convincing net scams. Here’s another dose of reality courtesy of “Visual-kei”.

Just recently a blogger named “Visual-Kei” shared a rather disturbing story about an online shopping turned into a disaster. In an unfamiliar online site,

http://www.mobilesworldltd.com/

she caught sight of 2 iPhone 3Gs which were for sale. Who wouldn’t be drooling over iPhones these days, right? Well, the offer appeared too good to be ignored. And without thinking twice, she immediately bought both mobile phones. Along with the banking charges necessary, she shelled out one whole grand. Yes, that’s roughly 1,000 US bucks!

After paying all that money, she has yet to receive those iPhones she ordered and the worse part is that, she can’t even contact the site now! They’ve simply stopped answering her inquiries about the products due to be delivered.

Adding insult to injury is the fact that it was her mother’s money and not actually hers! Her mom will be more than devastated to hear this awful news and there’s no reason not to be. So before you indulge, think about it over and over again.

Here are a few tips to stop this from happening to you.

First, make sure you transact business with a reliable and credible website or blogsite. Browse through their forums or comments section to look for negative feedback or try asking around about them. If you’re unfamiliar with the site, there are more chances of getting scammed. So be sure they can be trusted!

Also, check out the mode of payment. You have higher chances of security when you go through paypal instead of Western Union or any of those similar methods. At the same time, do not just give out pertinent information such as your complete address, telephone number of even your social security number.

And lastly, be wary of offers that are jus too good to be true! The internet is brimming with these types of offers and many are easily fooled into thinking they have singled out one great bargain!

So remember to shop safely!
