Interview Specials #6: TheShoplifters ever-changing style in fashion

Introduction to TheShoplifters…

TheShoplifters was founded on 10 March 2009. The founders were close friends and they prefer to stay anonymous with their identity. Both of them enjoy this vibrant industry and the ever-changing style in fashion.

According to them, showcasing ladies apparels online is a convenient alternative for consumers to make purchase anywhere online and in sellers’ point of view; it would also be a great platform to interact with the mass consumers. Thus, TheShoplifters (TSL) was set up.

Challenges encountered…

The founders mentioned two challenges they encountered in putting up TSL.

The 1st challenge was intense competition.

“There are huge numbers of blog shops in the market and TSL had got to develop a system and presentation which would make our shop standout and unique.”

The 2nd challenge in start-up would be marketing.

“It’s pretty much an issue to have sufficient exposure of our shop to attract interested shoppers especially when you are new in the market.”

Honesty and listening are the best way to go…

Over the course running TSL, they stick to their principles of running business.

“The basics of business strategy which we felt are honesty. We always deal with shoppers in the honest manner, as much as they dislike, we are not a fan of gimmicks, beautiful words and empty promises.”

They added that listening to costumers is very important in running businesses.

“We listen to shoppers feedbacks and we act upon them. We are constantly monitoring our shop to find ways of improving. We are not content to just roll our weekly launches; we are always seeking new and unique offers only meant for TSL members.”

Good blog shop quality…

They shared their opinion on what a safe blog should be.

According to them, a safe blogshop should be around in the market for at least 1 year, have frequent updates on their site, at least once every 2 weeks. It should also have “testimonials / feedback” entry for shoppers to leave their honest comments.

“Have a moderate “reputation” among forumers and hear-say people and high sign up of mailing lists and site visit count.”

“ As a shopping, the world of internet is yours to access. Being a wise shopper means you had done a significant amount research and read ups. When shopping online, be it a proper dot com e-commerce site or a blog shop, you’ll have to know how long have this shop being around and do they have updates frequently.”

TheShoplifters founders would like to say some words to budding entrepreneurs…

“We still consider TSL a very small shop and thus our advice are just 2 cents worth. We would just like to highlight, setting up blog shop is not as easy as it seems, there are commitments and careful planning which are required of you. Success and failure very much depends on your commitments.”
