Eye lenses are adored by many ladies out there. It adds beauty and color to their eyes which made them look more gorgeous. Many Asian girls are addicted to eye lenses.
In Singapore, the government prohibited the online selling of contact lenses. Under Singapore law, only registered optometrists and opticians can sell or prescribe contact lenses.
The Ministry of Health also announced the prohibition of online selling of contact lenses. Letters were sent to blogshop owners asking them not to sell contacts online but there are still people doing this underground.
With courteosy from tinzy: The gov did not prohibit the online purchase of lenses. They prohibited the online SALES of lenses. I have checked with MOH and they say they cannot stop those who wants to buy online but warned that it’s at our own risk. As for the supply side, yes they can stop it.
There are many popular eye lenses online sellers especially in Asia and one of these online shops are run by the fallineyes’ sisters who’s selling some contaminated lenses. This seller is well-known as Fiona.
BEWARE! The following are the websites run by fallineyes’ sisters:

A complaint about an online eye lenses seller was raised by red.aden in SgClub last March 15, 2010 and posted the same case in Flowerpod forum. The lenses seemed to be good at first according to her.
A week after using the eye lenses, it turned blur and she automatically called the attention of the seller. She contacted and reported it to the seller of the eye-lenses hoping for a favorable response.
After having a series of argument, the seller then changed three pairs of lenses in order to compensate the damage but the same thing happened again. The generosity of the seller captured her trust and she started to introduce her lenses to her friends.
The same thing happened to her friends. She then gathered information regarding the seller which led her to other blog shop owners who said that this seller is posting fake information about their lenses to attract customers.
A recent picture of red.aden’s infected eyes:
Her optometrist said the lenses had caused her eyes to be over dry and produced a lot of mucus. This mucus are blocking her vision, causing her unable to see clearly.
From mucus, it had worsened to green pus which had been flowing from her eyes. Pus is a whitish-yellow, yellow or yellow-brown exudates produced by vertebrates during inflammatory pyogenicbacterial infections. The blue one with two green spots is blocking her vision. This caused her semi-blindness.
The infection is still at its moderate stage. If the use of the eye lenses will be continued, it will turn into another infection. She was then advised not to use contact lenses for at least two months.
However, several cases of eye lenses purchased were also raised in SgClub and Flowerpod forum. Hippo93 tried using the lenses and felt uncomfortable which made her stopped from using it. Her neighbor ordered a pair of lenses after she introduced the website but then decided to withdraw the order.
Missy.m in Flowerpod forum said that she also had a bad experience with fallineye.blogspot.com. She bought two pair of similar blue contact lens from her and when it arrived, she realized that the 2 blue lenses look very different from each other. She-mailed the seller to ask, the seller told her that she had sent someone else’s lens by mistake and ask her to send it back.
The seller promised to send the correct lenses once she received the returned lenses. It took five to 6 months before the lenses were replaced. The second time she bought lenses, she felt uncomfortable with it and decided to stop using it.
Juiceh from Flowerpod also bought from that blogshop before. She spent around $40+ on 2 pairs of contact lenses. The lenses didn’t have a brand, and felt quite uncomfortable after trying it.
On the other hand, a review on these eye lenses was done by Tsuriki. Detailed information about the delayed shipment and the quality of lenses was highlighted in the review made by Tsuriki. It was said that the seller do re-packaging of lenses.
Two other eye-lenses shoppers were mentioned in the review namely Jo and Fidelis. Jo ordered her Japan lens from another blogshop one or two weeks after Tsuriki and it had already arrived 2 weeks before her. There’s a possibility that re-packaging causes the delayed of shipments.
Tsuriki mentioned in the review that same thing happened to Fidelis. There might be plenty of online shoppers out there who are experiencing the same thing as Tsuriki and Fidelis.
Hence, online shoppers in the forum sympathized red.aden’s current situation. Some offered help through giving contact information of Ministry of Health investigation officer, giving of additional information about the fallineyes’ sisters, as well as meaningful advises that could help not only the complainant but also contact lenses buyers. Some recommended opticians which can help her with her eye infections.
Cisco in SgClub provided a website of the law pertaining to those who are caught guilty they will be charge under Unlawful Engagement in Optometry or Opticianry.
Please refer to this site for detailed law:

Nowadays, the use of contact lenses is for fashion purposes. People bought contact lenses to add beauty into their eyes. Contact lenses are the number one choice for many people with vision correction needs especially for those who don’t want to use eye-glasses. For many, contact lenses provide flexibility and convenience.
There are varieties of lenses available for diverse of needs and preferences. Contact lenses can be used to correct a variety of vision disorders such as Myopia (nearsightedness), Hyperopia (farsightedness), Astigmatism, and Presbyopia (poor focusing with reading material and other near vision tasks).
Some may experience eye disorder which made them use lenses but in many cases, it is used for fashion. Contact lenses from non-licensed sellers are much cheaper compared to those prescribed by license doctors. With this, people prefer to buy from non-licensed sellers.
Are you still going to buy contact lenses from non-licensed sellers? You better think twice if you don’t want your eye-sight to be damaged.

I have a look at quentria’s blog and it’s obvious that the lenses were fake.
Firstly those weren’t GEO lenses, but EOS lens and from the way the EOS labels were cut or not there at all, it sent a signal telling people that it’s fake.
The actual GEO products can be found here: http://geo21eye.com
IMO, if u found a good supplier and have always take care of your eyes while using the lenses, there should be no problem. But in her case.. that’s really unfortunate. I would not say to stay off online purchase of lenses completely, but do go along with someone you trust.
CISCO’s link is invalid btw, but thank u for informing all of us at CC
it’s really good to create awareness in a popular forum group!

I forgot to add. The gov did not prohibit the online purchase of lenses. They prohibited the online SALES of lenses. I have checked with MOH and they say they cannot stop those who wants to buy online but warned that it’s at our own risk. As for the supply side, yes they can stop it.
So i think the article needs a little tweaking for some accuracy

Yes, i totally agree with this article becoz many cases has been encountered where patients buy contacts without any prescription through online and later face various kinds of problems. So, the online ordering of contacts must be done only if their is proper prescription and must instruct on its usage.
Using of contacts which are out of date or which are used by other persons must be strictly prohibited.
Thank you for creating awareness by posting such articles.

Hi Candice,
It is always said that online purchasing of any contact lens is risky and may damage your eyes.
So we don’t really recommend you to go for it but if you would really want, I am sure that there will be some reviews if you google on it.
Thanks for your comment!
