We wonder if is right: Blogshop selling sex toys to customers regardless of age

I came across this advertisement from this blogshop and went to take a look as I have never seen a sex toy blogshop before.

I was browsing through their FAQS and realised that they are not interested in their customers’ age.

This means that they are willing to sell these products to underage customers!

I am shocked to see this and did not know where to report such business.

I believe to sell such products, you require a licence.

SafeBlogShopper did a search on google to check if this model of online business is allow. However, we did not manage to find any legal acknowledgement or official declares pertaining to it.

We also try to email Stomp for some legal advices, but we did not receive any answers from them after two weeks.

Despite of this, SafeBlogShopper believes that the law still applies in the cyber world. We would really advise blogshop owner to take note of the age of customers to avoid unnecessary legal conflicts and also practise social responsibility.

We would also appreciate if any of our readers who know about this legal implications can enlighten us by leaving us a comment or email us.

I think the owner of the blogshop has seen this, because their FAQ in their site has been edited.

A pity that this website is still working without any form of action from the authorities.

    Dear Raryu,

    Thank you for your comment.
We cannot deny the fact that there is a gray area when it comes to online shopping activities.
But the fact that the amendments were made is an encouragement to us.
At least, we know that they are thinking twice. =)

I will like to address that this does not amounts to infliction of the current statued law in singapore.

Sex shops can be seen along any street of Singapore and there are currently no restriction on who can enter and who could make a purchase. Furthermore, the online blogshop are not selling prohibited items or drugs and hence it makes not sense to create such a din.

Till the day government decides to barricade access to geylang, i am sure it’s still legal now to shop in any online sex shops for toys.

Its just like anyone selling contact lenses thru a online blogshop. There are no proper check and balances .i.e professional opticians input. But there are still a influx of people purchasing those items. Shouldn’t we pay more notice on those?

    Regards

    Hi Daren,

    Thank you for your comment.
We are also doing our best to warn many shoppers about the danger of purchasing contact lens online especially when a few cases like swollen eyes were covered when using contact lenses which are not authentic.

Thank you for your input. I believe our shoppers are just been concern when it comes to if it is morally right to sell to underage customers. =)
